Job Description

Assistant Project Manager

Assistant Project Manager

We are a trusted general contractor specializing in retail and commercial construction for national brands across North America. With more than 40 years of experience, we deliver tenant improvements, remodels, and ground up projects through strong project management, clear communication, and a commitment to safety and quality. Our culture is professional and collaborative, where people are supported, held accountable, and encouraged to grow. If you want to work on impactful projects with a company that values integrity and long term careers, this is a place where your work matters.

Position Overview
We are seeking an organized and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role works closely with Project Managers, superintendents and subcontractors to help manage schedules, costs, quality, safety and client communications to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in day-to-day project administration and coordination across all project phases (preconstruction, construction, closeout).
  • Assist with development and maintenance of project schedules; track progress and identify potential delays or conflicts.
  • Monitor project budgets and cost-to-complete; prepare regular cost reports and assist with budget forecasting and change order tracking.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors and consultants to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment and services.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawings, permits and contracts; ensure documents are logged and distributed appropriately.
  • Attend and document project meetings, produce meeting minutes, and follow up on action items to closure.
  • Perform regular site visits to review progress, verify quality, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Support procurement activities: obtain quotes, assist with purchase orders, and track lead times for long-lead items.
  • Facilitate communications with clients, design teams and stakeholders; escalate issues to Project Manager as needed.
  • Assist with project closeout tasks including punch lists, turnover documentation, warranties, and as-built drawing coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent construction industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in construction project coordination or assistant project management, preferably on ground-up commercial or residential projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, contract administration, and site safety practices.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid or similar) and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare reports and present project status to stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of cost control and change order processes; comfort working with budgets and forecasts.
  • OSHA 10 (required) or OSHA 30 (preferred); valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and problem-solving mindset with a commitment to quality and safety.

Benefits

  • Bonus incentives
  • Medical/Dental/Vision - Day 1
  • 401k Day 1
  • 7 Paid Holidays
  • 10 Days PTO (after 90 days of employment)
  • Company paid long term disability
  • Company events
