Job Description

Methodist Health System is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist 1 to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this entry-level professional role, you will provide evidence-based physical therapy services to patients across the continuum of care, helping them restore function, reduce pain, and improve mobility and quality of life. Working within our hospitals and affiliated clinics, you will evaluate patients referred by physicians and other providers, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver hands-on interventions and therapeutic exercise programs aligned with current clinical best practices. As a Physical Therapist 1, you will perform comprehensive assessments including strength, range of motion, balance, gait, and functional mobility testing, and document findings clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record. You will design and progress treatment plans based on each patient’s diagnosis, goals, and response to therapy, using modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and patient-specific functional training. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, timely, and effective care, and to support discharge planning and recommendations for continued services or equipment. This role supports Methodist Health System’s mission to improve and save lives through compassionate, high-quality care. You will provide patient and family education about home exercise programs, safe mobility strategies, fall prevention, and strategies to promote long-term functional independence. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to integrity, accountability, and patient-centered care in every interaction. The Physical Therapist 1 will work within an environment that values collaboration and inclusion, participating in interdisciplinary rounds, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives related to rehabilitation services. You will adhere to all state and federal regulations and follow Methodist Health System policies, procedures, and clinical protocols. You will maintain accurate, timely documentation that supports medical necessity, reimbursement, and continuity of care, and you will contribute to department productivity and service excellence goals. This position is ideal for a new graduate or early-career physical therapist seeking mentorship and professional growth in a leading healthcare system. You will receive guidance from senior therapists and clinical leadership while progressively managing your own caseload with increasing independence. Opportunities may include working with diverse patient populations such as orthopedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, post-surgical, and medically complex patients, depending on the assigned setting. Methodist Health System offers a supportive workplace grounded in integrity, compassion, and accountability. As a Physical Therapist 1, you are expected to uphold our values, demonstrate respectful and inclusive interactions with colleagues and patients, and actively support a safe, healing environment. You will participate in ongoing professional development, maintain required licensure and certifications, and stay current with advances in physical therapy practice through continuing education. This position is generally full-time with a schedule that may include some weekend or holiday coverage based on patient needs. The work environment is primarily field/on-site in hospital units and outpatient clinic areas, requiring regular standing, walking, lifting or assisting patients, and the safe use of therapy equipment. Methodist Health System provides competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, and retirement savings options, to support your well-being as you provide exceptional care to others.
