Job Description

Overview The City of Hampton is seeking a Solid Waste Customer Service/Enforcement Supervisor to enforce City ordinances related to the Department of Public Works’ Solid Waste Division Enforcement section, oversee the City’s Yard Waste site and Fleetmind Routing system, and ensure route optimization and safety. Responsibilities • Enforce solid waste ordinances and code enforcement regulations.

• Manage the Yard Waste site and oversee Fleetmind routing to optimize routes.
• Operate under general supervision while determining methods and timing of task completion.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to work evenings and weekends.
• Serve as “essential personnel” during city emergencies or under direction of the City Manager.

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or successful completion of GED. Three (3) years of full‑time equivalent experience in solid waste collection activities. One (1) year of supervisory experience. One (1) year of code enforcement experience. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record based on City criteria. Subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances per the City’s current substance‑abuse policy. Must successfully pass a background check before any offer of employment or promotion. Additional Requirements May be required to work beyond a standard 40‑hour work week, including evenings and weekends. Must work outdoors in all weather conditions. May be considered “essential personnel” during city emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
