SolomonEdwards is looking for a remote, work from home, Mortgage Underwriter for one of its mortgage clients to ensure the assets reviewed meet all applicable investor guidelines, through a complete knowledge of requirements and regulations. You will be held accountable for quality and accuracy of decisions. This is a contract-to-hire position. Responsibilities Make decisions on the full range of mortgage loans (requires conventional, FHA, and/or VA experience) Review all mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness Work with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as needed, helping resolve any outstanding issues Work with compliance officers to ensure Federal, State, and local compliance of all mortgage and loan materials Approve or deny mortgages on a timely basis Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values Qualifications 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and basic automated underwriting systems Proficiency with automated underwriting systems Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations Experience with Encompass preferred Benefits Offered Pay rate of $33.65/hr + 1.5x pay over 40 hours 2‑4 hours of overtime per week are typical post‑training $69,992 – 80,490.80+ annually Opportunity to convert at 800 worked hours (~5.5 months), then eligible for quarterly bonus program up to $4,100 Full medical, dental, and vision plans; short‑ and long‑term disability, life & accidental insurance; FSA; accident, hospital, and critical illness plans 401(K) with company match Holiday and sick days Additional service bonus Referral bonus Opportunity to work for an established nationwide industry leader and dedicated mortgage lender that is publicly traded with a track record of performance Career growth within the company with learning development and structured upward mobility paths Business Resource Groups to support career growth and networking for affinities including weEMRG (Women), HOLA (Hispanic), SERVE (Military), PRIDE (LGBTQ+), BOLD (Black/African American), Asian American & Pacific Islander Mission and Vision We are a superior consulting firm focused on helping clients achieve their dreams and address complex situations with inspired people, deep expertise, and innovative technologies.
