Senior Human Factors Engineer Location: Boston, MA or Raynham, MA. Job Description We are searching for the best talent to join our DePuy Synthes Orthopaedics team as a Senior Human Factors Engineer. The role focuses on improving Orthopedics solutions across joint reconstruction, trauma, craniomaxillofacial, sports, extremities, elective foot & ankle, spine, robotic & digital surgery. Responsibilities Lead human‑factor efforts from concept through post‑market support. Develop an understanding of intended use environments and the user types through time spent in the field. Identify and analyze a variety of factors for project decisions, demonstrating judgment in selecting methods and techniques for evaluation. Network with key contacts outside own area, represent the voice of the customer from a human‑factor & technical perspective for new product development. Qualifications University/Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors Engineering (HFE), Usability Engineering, or related field. 4‑6 years of experience in human‑factor/usability engineering, use‑case validation testing or equivalent in product development and customer interactions. Demonstrated ability with the human‑factor engineering process: research, planning, risk assessment, regulatory submissions. Medical‑device product development experience or experience in a highly regulated industry is a strong plus. Clinical experience and/or software/GUI development degrees are also a plus. Ability to negotiate with stakeholders and provide disposition feedback or edit suggestions for risk‑management documentation. Planning, executing, documenting, and reporting usability testing, including moderation of studies. Knowledge of IEC 62366 and FDA guidance on human‑factor engineering. Good knowledge of ISO 14971 and IEC 62304 is a plus. Fluent in English; German and French are an advantage. Travel ability up to 20 % domestically and internationally. Salary & Benefits Base pay range: $92,000.00 – $148,350.00. Benefits: Eligibility for the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). Time‑off benefits: Vacation – 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time – 40 hours per year (48 hrs for Colorado, 56 hrs for Washington). Holiday pay, including floating holidays – 13 days per year. Bereavement leave – 240 hours for immediate family; 40 hours for extended family per year. Caregiver leave – 80 hours in a 52‑week rolling period; 10 days. Volunteer leave – 32 hours per year.
